Staying sane during lockdown

After realising that social media, websites, TV and any other type of technological invention is largely dominated by a certain virus- I have decided to join in and write a short post explaining how you can be mentally fresh post-lockdown.

For many, these times of isolation and limited social contact can be detrimental to so many individual's that struggle to maintain a positive mental state. It might not even be as personal as that- you might just be bored. If that's the case, this might just be the post for you.

Where do I begin?

I thought it would be beneficial to compile twenty various activities that might help you beat that lockdown boredom. So here it is- have fun:

1.
Listen to one song (or more if you're enjoying it) from each of the top 100 albums of the decade - no skipping either.

2.
Create a short exercise circuit and do it in the garden (a quick search will bring up hundreds).

3.
Give gaming a go (could be a PS4, mobile app or something as simple as a board game).

4. Do s
omething arty - like cross-stitch, colouring or drawing.

5.
Write a short fictional book or poem in your favourite genre.

6.
Learn a TikTok dance and record it (I'm still brainstorming- stick with me).

7.
Enrol in an online course on Udemy - it's cheap and there is some great content on there.

8.
Become an expert in a subject by watching or reading around it for an hour a day.

9.
Do a quiz over FaceTime with friends/family.

10.
Learn a language - YouTube or mobile apps can be useful!

11.
Start a new Netflix series in a genre you wouldn't normally watch.

12.
Bake or chef it up - pick a recipe and (social distancing permitting) get your ingredients.

13. Dust off your bookshelf and read that book you've been meaning to read for years.

14. Find an enjoyable podcast and listen to it daily.

15. Find a pack of cards and some friends (the friends part mainly advice for me) and create a card game.

16. Pick five random ingredients in your kitchen and make something gourmet.

17. Get yourself career ready - prepare that CV, sign up for webinars, narrow down your job search, write down five aspirations and network with people working in your industry.

18. Align yourself to a philosophy and learn more about it (e.g. Stoicism, Taoism,
Epicureanism etc.)

19. With the stock market in ruins, now might be the best time to start learning and to be prepared to start trading post-Covid.

20. Watch something funny - it's a very dark time we find ourselves in, so find a comedy and get laughing!

AND THAT'S IT!

If you've exhausted this list, I may prepare a second instalment, depending on whether you find this useful. In the meantime, stay safe, stay at home and stay positive!
